AVAS Survey
An AVAS (Aquatic Vegetation Assessment Sites) survey is a waterbody mapping technique that analyzes the aquatic plant species located throughout the shoreline of a lake.
Aqua-Weed Control conducts AVAS surveys based on the guidelines outline by the State of Michigan.
Vegetation maps and summery include:
- An Invasive species location map
- Characteristics of the lake (i.e. size, depth measurements, outlets)
- Percent of species covering your lake
Waterbody Bathymetry
Using hydroacoustic equipment we can create and extremely detailed scan of the bottom of your lake to create an up to date contour map. This is important to have because as water bodies age the bottoms change. Having the ability to see how they are changing are important to us to create the best treatment plan, but it is valuable to the homeowners for recreation use as well as possible water body succession.
We can create maps for all sizes and shapes. It can be a large 1000 surface acre lake or it can be a small pond in your back yard.
Waterbody mapping is conducted using a Lowrance HDS-12 LIVE with Active Imaging 3-in-1 GPS system.
Sonar data is uploaded to Biobase. https://www.biobasemaps.com
